SecureGov UAE (“the Extension”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a cybersecurity browser extension designed to help users detect phishing and fake UAE government websites and suspicious links before visiting them.
Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.
The extension processes the following data locally in your browser:
URLs of websites you visit
Links you manually submit for scanning
Basic domain metadata required for threat detection
This data is used only to check whether a website is safe or potentially malicious.
When scanning a URL, the extension may send the link to the VirusTotal API to check whether it has been reported as malicious.
This means:
The scanned URL is shared with VirusTotal for threat analysis.
No personal identity information is sent.

SecureGov UAE does NOT collect, store, or sell:
Personal information
Names, emails, passwords, or login data
Browsing history logs
IP addresses
Financial or payment information
Keystrokes or form inputs
Any personally identifiable information (PII)
We do not track users.
The extension may store the following locally on your device only:
Trusted sites you manually add
User settings (dark mode, language, notifications)
Scan statistics (number of scans, threats blocked)
This data never leaves your device.
Data is used strictly to:
Detect phishing and scam websites
Verify UAE government domains
Improve threat detection accuracy
Provide extension features and statistics
We do not use your data for advertising or analytics.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data.
The only external service used is:
VirusTotal API (for link reputation checks)
No other third-party tracking or analytics services are used.
The extension may request browser permissions such as:
Active Tab / Tabs – to analyze the current website for threats
Storage – to save your settings and trusted sites locally
Host Permissions – to detect suspicious domains before you visit them
These permissions are used solely for security functionality.
We implement strong security practices:
No remote databases storing user data
No user tracking
All processing is done locally whenever possible
Minimal external requests (VirusTotal only)
The extension is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the extension adds new features.
Updates will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.
