Van Vleck Hall

The conference will be held in the math building, Van Vleck Hall, on the UW-Madison campus. Van Vleck is near the top of Bascom Hill (the big hill), just south of the main building with the big UW flag.

Friday's dinner social will be in the 9th Floor Lounge (which features amazing views of Madison), and Saturday's events will be in room B107, which is a large classroom on the B1 basement level.

Getting to Madison

Plane

The closest airport is Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), which is only 5 miles from downtown Madison or about a 15-20 minute drive to the UW-Madison campus.

Upon arrival, you can use Uber or Lyft (pick up near doors #6 and #7) or take the Madison Metro bus Route D2 to get to campus.

Bus

Several bus services offer convenient transportation to UW–Madison from cities across Wisconsin. Badger Bus runs daily routes between Madison and Milwaukee, including stops at other Wisconsin cities. Lamers Connect provides service from Dubuque, Platteville, and Appleton, with stops in Madison that connect to campus.

Driving

I trust that if you are driving yourself, you can use Google or Apple maps to help you navigate to UW-Madison. See below for parking information.

Parking Info

Admittedly, parking in Madison, especially near campus, can be a struggle. We've specifically chosen a football away game weekend to help with this.

For the conference events, we recommend parking in Lot 20 University Ave Ramp, which is free on Friday evening and Saturday (you need to take a ticket but won't have to pay upon exiting). Lot 20 is located at 1390 University Ave and is the closest parking ramp to Van Vleck Hall, which is about a 5-10 minute walk to the east.

We have a block of 15 rooms available for Friday, November 14. Rooms will be held until October 31st. Room rate is $138 per night before taxes (30% discount).

Parking is $20/night (but you might be able to find free street parking nearby). Hotel has free breakfast, indoor pool, and fitness center.

Note: Hampton Inn is a 15-20 min walk to Van Vleck Hall. There are also bus options available to get to campus.
