Vasileios Vlachos

Dr. Vasileios Vlachos is an Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaly, Department of Economics. He is a senior researcher at the Computer Technology Institute (C.T.I.) of Patras, Greece. He was a member of the Digital Awareness and Response to Threats (DART) team of the Special Secretariat for Digital Planning of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance. Dr. Vlachos holds a Diploma of Engineering in Electronic & Computer Engineering from Technical University of Crete, a MSc in Integrated Hardware and Software Systems from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras and a PhD in Information Systems Security from the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Dr Vlachos is member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Free/Open Source Software Society (GFOSS), member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Association of Computer Engineers (HACE) and member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Computer Society (GCS). 


Leandros Maglaras

Dr. Leandros A. Maglaras is a professor of cybersecurity in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University. From September 2017 to November 2019, he was the Director of the National Cyber Security Authority of Greece. He obtained a B.Sc. (M.Sc. equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1998, M.Sc. in Industrial Production and Management from the University of Thessaly in 2004, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Thessaly, in 2008 and 2014 respectively. In 2018 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Intrusion Detection in SCADA systems from the University of Huddersfield He is featured in Stanford University's list of the world’s Top 2% scientists. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is an author of more than 200 papers in scientific magazines and conferences.

Athanasios Kakarountas

Dr. Athanasios Kakarountas (S’98-M’04-SM’10) holds a Diploma of Engineering and a PhD from the University of Patras, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, (1998 and 2004 respectively), and an MBA from the Open University of Cyprus (2015). He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaly. He has a rich educational background since 2005, being an Adjunct Professor or tenure Assistant Professor at the University of Central Greece, University of Thessaly, University of Patras, Hellenic Open University, TEI of Ionian Islands, TEI of Lamia, TEI of Western Greece.

His research topics include mainly Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems, covering also Digital system design (VLSI), low-power design and hardware accelerator development. Dr. Kakarountas has participated in 19 projects funded by EU and/or General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT). He has published more than 80 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences’ proceedings; he has co-authored 4 book chapters and 1 e-book. His research was awarded with 1 post-doc scholarship, 4 international awards and 2 national awards, and his work has received more than 700 citations. He is reviewer in 7 international journals and 11 international conferences, and member of the Organizing Committee of a plethora of international conferences. He has been elected in the Board of the Greece IEEE Section and he is the interim chairman of the Consumer Electronics Society Greece Chapter. He is also Chairman of the Regional Scientific Committee for Research and Innovation of Central Greece. Finally, he is a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM, and member of IET, EURASIP, ΤΕΕ.

Mohamed Amine Ferrag

Dr. Mohamed Amine Ferrag received the Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D., and Habilitation degrees in computer science from Badji Mokhtar—Annaba University, Annaba, Algeria, in June 2008, June 2010, June 2014, and April 2019, respectively. From 2014 to 2022, he was an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Guelma University, Algeria. From 2019 to 2022, he was a Visiting Senior Researcher with the NAU-Lincoln Joint Research Center of Intelligent Engineering, Nanjing Agricultural University, China. Since 2022, he has been the Lead Researcher at Artificial Intelligence & Digital Science Research Center, Technology Innovation Institute, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. His research interests include wireless network security, network coding security, applied cryptography, blockchain technology, and AI for cyber security. He has published over 120 papers in international journals and conferences in the above areas. He has been conducting several research projects with international collaborations on these topics. He received the 2021 IEEE TEM Best Paper Award and the 2022 Scopus Algeria Award. He is featured in Stanford University’s list of the world’s Top 2% scientists for 2020, 2021, and 2022. He is an associate editor for top journals, including IEEE Internet of Things Journal and ICT Express (Elsevier). He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
