Vasileios Vlachos

Dr. Vasileios Vlachos is Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Thessaly. He is a senior researcher at the Computer Technology Institute (C.T.I.) of Patras, Greece. He was a member of the Digital Awareness and Response to Threats (DART) team of the Special Secretariat for Digital Planning of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance. Dr. Vlachos holds a Diploma of Engineering in Electronic & Computer Engineering from Technical University of Crete, a MSc in Integrated Hardware and Software Systems from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras and a PhD in Information Systems Security from the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Dr Vlachos is member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Free/Open Source Software Society (GFOSS), member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Association of Computer Engineers (HACE) and member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Computer Society (GCS/ΕΠΥ).

Athanasios Kakarountas

Athanasios Kakarountas (S’98-M’04-SM’10) holds a Diploma of Engineering and a Ph.D. from the University of Patras, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, (1998 and 2004 respectively), and an MBA from the Open University of Cyprus (2015). He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaly. He has a rich educational background since 2005, being an Adjunct Professor or tenure Assistant Professor at the University of Central Greece, University of Thessaly, University of Patras, Hellenic Open University, TEI of Ionian Islands, TEI of Lamia, TEI of Western Greece.

His research topics include mainly Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems, covering also Digital system design (VLSI), low-power design and hardware accelerator development. Dr. Kakarountas has participated in 19 projects funded by EU and/or General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT). He has published more than 80 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences’ proceedings; he has co-authored 4 book chapters and 1 e-book. His research was awarded with 1 post-doc scholarship, 4 international awards and 2 national awards, and his work has received more than 700 citations. He is reviewer in 7 international journals and 11 international conferences, and member of the Organizing Committee of a plethora of international conferences. He has been elected in the Board of the Greece IEEE Section and he is the interim chairman of the Consumer Electronics Society Greece Chapter. He is also Chairman of the Regional Scientific Committee for Research and Innovation of Central Greece. Finally, he is a Senior Member of IEEE, ACM, and member of IET, EURASIP, ΤΕΕ.

Periklis Chatzimisios

Dr. Chatzimisios serves as an Associate Professor, the Director of the Computing Systems, Security and Networks (CSSN) Research Lab and a Division Head in the Department of Informatics at the Alexander TEI of Thessaloniki (ATEITHE), Greece. Dr. Chatzimisios is involved in several standardization and IEEE activities serving as a Member of the Standards Development Board for the IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc), IEEE ComSoc Standards Program Development Board and IEEE ComSoC Education & Training Board as well as Vice Chair of the Technical Committee on Big Data (TSCBD) and Vice Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee in Information Infrastructure and Networking (TCIIN). He is the editor/author of 8 books and more than 120 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on the topics of performance evaluation and standardization activities of mobile/wireless communications, Internet of Things, Big Data and vehicular networking. His published research work has received more than 2800 citations by other researchers. Dr. Chatzimisios obtained his Ph.D. from Bournemouth University (UK) in 2005 and his B.Sc. from ATEITHE (Greece) in 2000.

Ioannis Chochliouros

Dr. Ioannis P. Chochliouros graduated from the Dept. of Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, holding also a M.Sc. (D.E.A.) & a Ph.D. (Doctorat) from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI), France. He has also worked as an independent consultant in the scope of several European and/or international research and business studies. Since 2005, he is the Head of OTE’s Research Programs Section and has been involved in different national, European and international R&D projects and market-oriented activities, many of which have received international awards. During his professional career he has participated either as coordinator or as a scientist-researcher in more than 45 European and national research programs, some of which have received distinctive awards. He is author/co-author of three international books and he has published more than 200 distinct scientific or business papers/reports in the international literature (book chapters and articles in magazines, journals, and conferences proceedings), especially for technical, business and regulatory options arising from innovative e-Infrastructures and e-Services. He is an expert in project management activities with an extensive experience in EU-funded projects where he has very successfully exercised coordinator’s duties (e.g.: D-SPACE, LiveCity, Privacy-Flag, SESAME, 5G ESSENCE). He is also an active participant of various international and national associations, both of scientific and business nature. Dr. Chochliouros has also performed an extended educational activity in Greece and in France, in cooperation with Universities and other high-level Institutes, covering a broad variety of issues in the scope of modern e-communications.
