Poison Ivy: The Secret Society is a 2008 American made-for-television erotic thriller drama film directed by Jason Hreno. It is a standalone sequel to the 1997 film Poison Ivy: The New Seduction and the fourth and final installment of the Poison Ivy film series. The film premiered on Lifetime on July 27, 2008.

Daisy's arrival also piques the interest of the Ivy Society, a close-knit secretive sisterhood to whom the lucrative scholarship is traditionally granted. The head of the Ivies, an attractive and ambitious student named Azalea Berges with a long history of truancy and illicit affairs with teachers, breaks into Blake's home, offering sexual favors in exchange for his help in boosting her chances with the internship.

Blake, distracted by his relationship with Daisy, fails to honor his agreement with Azalea. Having recorded Blake and Daisy's first night of lovemaking in secret, she and the Ivy sisters leak the video onto the internet and set fire to Blake's sports car. With her reputation destroyed, Daisy soon gets wind of the Ivies' true nature as a power-hungry group of sirens who manipulate men to their advantage and employ blackmail and seduction to achieve their aims, wishing to use the government internship to gain a political foothold in society. She also learns that Alexis Baldwin's death was not an accident and is one of a long history of killings that have been covered up by the dean.

So this was definitely on YouTube, either on omeleto, DUST or one of those short film channels, the basic premise is a man in an office is receiving letters from someone, this man also wishes his coworker would die cause the coworker is like a bald fat guy who the protagonist thinks doesnt deserve to live. The opening scene is a monologue by the protagonist, I also remember an opening scene in a board room where the fat guy can't get power point or something working, the story then progresses and I clearly remember Meghan Markle being in it she is the receptionist character in the short film, the guys sending letters are a secret society that wishes death upon people, at the end the spoiler is that the fat guy basically hired these people to wish death upon the protagonist.

Movies about cults and dangerous, secret societies interest me to no end. Just curious to check out any gems you guys might recommend. (In the vein of The Invitation, Hereditary, Eyes Wide Shut, Race with the Devil, etc.)

So much of horror is about the hidden secret, the deadly truth that is revealed far too late to be of any help, so it only adds insult to the injury of the violence and death that surrounds the characters in any great horror film. Often, it is a family secret or a past trauma, something brief and punctuated that altered a life forever.

Sometimes, however, the secret is more complicated and elaborate, and it is held among a group rather than an individual. Whole societies are built around these secrets, and these cabals and secret societies operate under cover of darkness and ignorance. They act as a hidden civilization running concurrent to our own, making subtle changes and decisions that steer people without their knowledge.

First things first: this is not a horror film, which is why it only made #10 on the list. However, even though the film is more of a thriller, the film unquestionably contains one of the creepiest secret societies in film history.

While a viewer might think that the strange creatures in the woods are the secret society that gets this film on the list, that would be a cheat, since (SPOILER ALERT) they are a fabricated race designed simply to keep the citizens of the village from asking too many questions or straying too far.

The black and white cinematography from James Wong Howe is stunning, and the film is far ahead of its time in depicting the phenomena of plastic surgery, isolated communities, and an allegory for midlife crises.

Though the 2015 American remake does touch on the same themes, the visceral nature of the original cannot be matched. The film will stay in your mind long after it has ended, and its ramifications are worth considering.

This film is a hybrid of so many different things that it should collapse in on itself under the weight of its various subgenres. Equal parts martial arts, horror, fantasy, and historical epic, the film somehow weaves it all together under the sure-handed direction of Christophe Gans, who later went on to make the visually arresting Silent Hill.

The interesting surprise of this film is that the secret society within the film is actually the title of the film! The Brotherhood of the Wolf as depicted in the film is a group using the fear of a rampaging wolf to undermine the authority of the king and take over the country.

A terribly underrated found footage horror film that got lost in the glut of fake docs that have filled the marketplace in the last decade, The Conspiracy is a smart, taut thriller with horror overtones that builds slowly to a strange and uncomfortable crescendo that will have viewers questioning exactly what transpired.

The most traditional of the secret societies on the list, the film revolves around two filmmakers discovering that a supposed crackpot spouting conspiracy theories was right, but only after he vanishes entirely. Starring Aaron Poole (recently from The Void), the movie uses the hidden camera conceit to excellent effect.

The film needs absolutely no introduction. Directed by Drew Goddard from a script by him and Joss Whedon, the film skewers the clichs of the subgenre after which it is named. Clever, shocking, and determined not to be pinned down, the movie is best viewed by well-versed fans of horror.

The secret society in the film is the piece that raises this film from a standard teen horror entry to a smart satire of the genre itself. Great performances from Bradley Whitford and Richard Jenkins keep the film from becoming a bloodless commentary on horror, instead embracing the silliness and self-awareness.

Secret Societies refer to organisations who keep their existence hidden from the rest of the world. In their depiction on screen, these are usually seen as organisations of considerable power and their influence is almost always malign. Such societies are always believed to be highly secretive about their existence and more often than not will kill those who betray their code or eliminate evidence of their existence.

Of existing secret societies, The Illuminati appear in Razor Blade Smile (1998), Lara Croft, Tomb Raider (2001) and Trump vs The Illuminati (2020), are supposedly behind the creation of the Frankenstein monster in The Frankenstein Theory (2013) and sort of appear in Angels & Demons (2009). Meanwhile, The Freemasons cover up the real reasons for the Jack the Ripper killings in Murder by Decree (1979).

The tv series Rubicon (2010) has an intelligence analyst uncovering a web of connected real world conspiracies that lead to a secretive organisation.
