Why do we have fellowship meet and greet as part of morning worship. We are committed to going above and beyond our comfort zones to share Christ’s LOVE with each other and all of humanity. Many times, when guest visit for the first time they are uncomfortable being in a strange place among strange people. When the Holy Spirit gives us an opportunity to have a guest come to Second Baptist for worship, it is our responsibility to make the guest(s) feel welcome. Always bear in mind, unfriendly churches are usually empty. Romans 12:13b “Always be eager to practice hospitality. (NLT)
Growing older does not automatically mean growing wiser. Wisdom comes from walking and listening to God and learning from Him valuable lessons to pass on to the next generation. We must never forget the trailblazers that made a way for us to enjoy the things we posses as a church. The wisdom that Seniors possess is priceless and a jewel that must be treasured by all; especially our children and teens. We must be committed to using our time, talents, and spiritual gifts for the nurturing of our Seniors. At the same time, we must equip of our children and teens to be confident in their abilities to succeed and achieve their goals. This combination will sustain our future success. Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
While numerical growth does not constitute spiritual maturity, we are committed to reclaiming our past members, maintain our present and eager to attract new. We must make sure that we never have clicks within the church. God is not the author of confusion or clicks. We must grow as a church with good soil bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit which will draw young and old who hunger and thirst for righteousness. II Peter 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.”
Holiness simply put is a daily committed lifestyle pleasing to God for His Glory. It is trusting God to truly be the Potter and accepting the fact that we are the Clay. Holiness gives God permission to transform our minds, cleanse our hearts, order our steps, discipline us when we are wrong, and shape us into the image of Jesus Christ all in the name of LOVE.
I Peter 1:16 “Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
We believe that the Word of God is the supreme authority; therefore, we will govern our lives according to the teachings of the Holy Bible. We also believe that the Bible is God’s inerrant, authoritative, timeless truth, that guides our lives and purify our hearts and it is the only way to know God’s Will for our life and the world we live in.
Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is lamp unto my feet and light into my path.”
Seeking the Lost and bring all of humanity to Christ to receive Him as Savior and Lord is our collective mission. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork created Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
