What is the homework policy?
Homework is sent home on the first day of the week, and due on the last day of the week.
May I send in snacks for my student's birthday?
Yes, but you must contact your child's teacher to learn about any class allergies before sending anything into school. Also, all food items must be store bought and unopened. Homemade treats are not allowed.
We encourage you to consider different ways to celebrate a birthday in school that does NOT involve food. Some ideas include sending a new or used book to add to our classroom library or gifting pencils or stickers to students instead of candy or cupcakes.
If you send something that requires plates, silverware, scooping, or cutting please also send in any accessories needed by stuents or teachers.
Also, in order to not hurt any feelings, invitations for birthday parties can only be given out in school if all students are invited otherwise you will need to find another place to invite specific students.
Do we have a snack time?
Students may bring TWO SMALL SNACKS from home to eat in the morning at 10:45 and another in the afternoon at 2:05 (think small and simple: small bag of goldfish, an apple, a snack bar, gummies, etc.)
Families must provide the small snack from home.
Students are not allowed to share snacks with peers due to safety/health reasons.
Students are also allowed and highly encouraged to have water bottles (filled only with water) throughout the school day.
Please be mindful of any allergies that may exist within our class.
Can my student bring toys to school?
No. Toys should be left at home.
We have spent many years collecting engaging materials to use in school. Our classes are filled with hands-on morning tubs, STEM bins, art supplies, and indoor recess materials. All these supplies are available for classmates to share.
If there is something you would like to bring to school to donate to our class collection you may do so after checking with the teacher. For example, in the past students have donated footballs to the room that then belong to the class to share.
What time does school start/end?
School doors open at 8:40 A.M.
Students arriving late will be marked tardy at 8:55.
School ends for students at 3:40 p.m. (3:45 for teachers).
Students will be dismissed for pickup at the front doors on Chester St.
If you are picking your student up from school please do not block the buses or the parking lot.
PLEASE SEND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF ANY CHANGES TO ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL ROUTINES.
