Competition Rules:
All teams are expected to follow MSHAA and National Federation of State High School Associations rules, including all rules regarding music. Please make sure you are aware of all safety rules and ensure that your team’s routines do not contain any illegal moves.
We will have a safety judge present at the competition. The safety judge will NOT deduct points from your team's score. They are there to inform you of anything illegal in your routine in order to best prepare you for the State Competition.
Feel free to bring ropes to help your with formations. We have standard basketball and volleyball lines.
Divisions:
Teams: Team divisions will be decided based on school size & state divisions, which are set by MDTA. We will take into consideration how many teams have registered, as we hope for every team to have a fair, yet competitive experience.
Exception: The Game-Day Division will be divided based on # of team members on the floor.
Solos: Soloists will be divided by grade level.
Categories:
All Elementary, Middle School, High School & All Star teams have the option of competing in the following categories: Game Day, Hip Hop, Kick, Lyrical Jazz, Mix, Pom, Precision Jazz, & Prop. All teams may enter up to 4 routines.
Routine Time Limits:
Solo Routine Max: 1 minute 30 seconds
Team Routine Max (except Game Day): 2 minute 15 seconds
Game Day Max: 3 minutes
Admission:
Children under the age of 3 will be granted free admission.
January 16th: Admission to Solo competition at Rickman Auditorium will be $5 at the door, cash only. Teammates must be in matching warm-ups/uniforms, in order to enter free of charge to watch their soloists.
January 17th: Admission to Team competition will be $10, cash only.
Team members, coaches, and bus drivers with school ID will enter the event for free.
Programs:
Programs will be available on the day of the competition!
Music:
Music will be collected prior to the competition for a smooth competition, where coaches can enjoy their dances from the front! We will play the music that we have during your warm up time, so you can confirm that it is correct. If you are doing a Game Day routine, please make sure that your music is spliced together into ONE file. If your Game Day music is in separate files, you will need to play it yourself.
