Pas de deux
Pas de deux is a book collaboration with artist and graphic designer Jelle Martens. This artists's book is mainly a visual dialogue : on one side the colourful, expanding constellations by Conard, on the other, Martens's compact and punctual compostions. Both series of reproduced pictures were painted beforehand: evaluating these two autonomous series, we tought they would function well together and as a graphic publication. An explorative, experimental poem by Jan Op de Beeck interrupts this thrilling danse of images. In epilogue, the reader will find Tom Lambeens’s explicative art historical essay, relating Pas de deux with the differences in spatiality at stake in two paintings by Paolo Uccello and Piero della Francesca. 64 pp., 21 x 29,7 cm, digital print, 75 copies, Infinitif, 2022, Dutch & English.
Presented @ Paard van Troje, Ghent, on the 30th of June 2022 with a musical intervention by Stan Maris, and followed by a two-weeks exhibit of some original paintings. More on Pas de deux on infinitif.org
