Recruitment into the SCP Foundation
Interview Log — February 2021
Location: University Campus, Psychology Department
Interviewed: Sebastian Stain
Interviewer: Dr. Harold Finch
Dr. Harold Finch, a senior researcher with the SCP Foundation, had been observing Sebastian from a distance. After hearing whispers about the young man's unusual abilities and keen interest in ethics, he decided it was time to make contact.
Dialogue:
Dr. Finch: "Mind if I join you, Sebastian?"
Sebastian: "Uh, sure. Do I know you?"
Dr. Finch: "Not yet, but I know quite a bit about you. I’m Dr. Harold Finch from the SCP Foundation. I’ve been following your academic journey and your work on ethics in human behavior."
Sebastian: "The SCP Foundation? I've heard of you... you deal with anomalies, right?"
Dr. Finch: "That's correct. We investigate and contain entities and phenomena that defy the laws of nature. But more importantly, we strive to ensure that our operations adhere to ethical standards. That’s where you come in."
Sebastian: "What do you mean?"
Dr. Finch: "We need individuals like you—intelligent, ethical, and capable of understanding the complexities of human behavior in relation to the anomalies we encounter. Your unique abilities could be invaluable in our efforts to maintain order and ethical oversight within the Foundation."
Sebastian: "I’m not sure. I’ve only just started to understand my abilities, and the ethical implications are... complicated."
Dr. Finch: "Exactly. That’s why we want you. The Foundation is not just about containment; it’s about understanding the moral implications of our actions. We believe you could help bridge that gap."
Sebastian: "What would that involve?"
Dr. Finch: "You would undergo training and orientation to understand the Foundation's operations. You would be involved in ethical oversight, helping to ensure that our methods align with our values. It’s a chance to make a real difference in how we approach anomalies."
Sebastian: "And what about my education? My studies?"
Dr. Finch: "We can accommodate your academic pursuits. Many of our personnel continue their education while working with us. We value knowledge and encourage personal growth."
Sebastian: "I need to think about it."
Dr. Finch: "Of course. Take your time. But I urge you to consider the impact you could have. The Foundation is at a crossroads, and we need someone with your perspective."
Sebastian: "Alright. I’ll think about it."
Dr. Finch: "I’ll be in touch. Remember, the choice is yours, but the opportunity is rare."

Sebastian spent the next few weeks contemplating the offer. He weighed the ethical implications of joining an organization that dealt with anomalies against his desire to make a meaningful impact. After extensive discussions with trusted mentors and further reflection on his own abilities, he ultimately decided to accept the offer.
