WHO ARE WE?
Seaside Theatre Company is a community theatre group that was co-founded by Stuart Smith and Peter Gallant in 2024, and is based out of the Scott MacAulay Performing Arts Centre in Summerside. The company aims to “build community through theatre” by drawing on the many talents found throughout the island, and by presenting a wide variety of theatrical productions for both audiences and participants to experience.

Stuart is a co-founder of the Seaside Theatre Company. He studied acting/directing at Acadia University, and has acted in, directed, and narrated a variety of productions over the decades. Stuart’s first play, Through Eden, won then-Theatre PEI’s New Voice award, and a new version was given a public reading through Watermark Theatre/PARC. Along with theatre, he pursues interests in music as well as writing.

Peter is the Director of the Performing Arts Centre at the College of Piping and co-founder of the Seaside Theatre Company. He retired as a music director after 33 years at Summerside Intermediate School and Music Department Head for the Province of PEI. As well, Peter was tech director and audio engineer at the Indian River Festival (now Under the Spire) for 13 years and owned his own production company, Solo Audio Projects.
