Natural Language Generation

About The Authors

  • Maitrey Mehta is an aficionado of Natural Language Processing and Generation, who very enthusiastically explored the NLP/NLG domains and led the team in the efforts towards generating language. Having finished his undergraduate degree in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University, where he completed his B.Tech final project with 3 of his batchmates, naming the group MARS based on their initials, and taking their first steps towards their careers. From thereon, he is pursuing his post-graduate at the University of Utah, in the Masters of Science in Computer Science program.

  • Ashutosh Kakadiya is passionate about Research in Reinforcement Learning, probably more than his passion for Python. With his merit he has shown his rightful belonging to MARS as part of the group, completing their B.Tech final project. Having worked hard during every second of it, he got his admission to the Masters in Science program at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Ashutosh aspires to build his career as a research scientist in Machine Learning and Data Science.

  • Raj Derasari is perhaps best described as a jack of all trades, having interests in various areas such as software development, devops, system administration, data science, and machine learning. His work in the AOBD course examination intrigued the interest of Professor Gandhi, and Raj was one of the first ones to start working on the final project. During it, he got well accommodated with Python and Linux Scripting. Every project meeting, he can be seen listening attentively and documenting in a little handbook. His resourcefulness when it comes to getting things done with anything available is a great utility. After his B.Tech, Raj aspires to pursue a career in research and development after getti into a Masters in Computer Science post-graduate abroad.

  • Shreyas Patel is a passionate coder who turns ideas into implementations. Within a few weeks of using it, he absolutely fell in love with Python. Since completing his B.Tech degree along with his batchmates, Shreyas has been working full-time at AllinCall Research and Solutions, involved in the development and research of Machine Learning and Artifical Intelligence techniques, and working with the Django Framework to develop and deploy chatbots, having worked with various large clients including leading banks in India. Shreyas decided to pursue a job first, but aspires to apply for a Masters in Computer Science degree abroad.

  • Rahul Patel held the titles of Research Mentor, and Teaching Associate before that, directly to the MARS group, but he had been long-mentoring MARS as one of the best seniors a fresher could ask for. His insights and assistance to the personal, academic and professional growth of us have been invaluable. Having completed his Bachelors in Technology degree at SEAS, Ahmedabad University, he decided to dedicate his time as a Teaching Associate in various courses, eventually taking the course Algorithms and Optimization for Big Data by Professor Ratnik Gandhi. Alongside his profile as a TA at SEAS, he was also working at Shipmnts Inc. where we worked full time as a Machine Learning engineer, working on Optical Character Recognition among other things. Having developed such a profile and with his immense interest in Machine Learning, he started his Masters in Science in Discrete Optimization at Mila-Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute (University de Montreal)

  • Ratnik Gandhi guided the MARS group and their seniors as the coolest instructor ever. Prof. Gandhi taught courses on Linear Algebra, Algorithms for Big Data, Game Theory, and was the mentor/guide for MARS on their final project. The industrial side of the project was a recommendation platform developed for Hirevalley Inc., for which had also guided the seniors of MARS a year before, and their work [5] on the recommendation platform was accepted into IEEE Systems Conference 2018. He also led the academic ventures for this project in machine learning and generative models. His brilliance in mentoring and guidance developed the coding abilities of MARS.

Results of MARS' endeavours

Having done research and development for one year during their B.Tech project, MARS learned various Machine Learning, Data Science, Information Retrieval, and Statistical Techniques. The main project being a recommendation platform, also led to an endeavour in Generative Adversarial Networks for token generation, and its impacts in language generaton.

As a results, the work culminated as a research paper in machine learning, on correlated-token generation with Generative Adversarial Networks [4], getting accepted into the 2nd workshop on Data Science for Human Capital Management, collocated with ECML-PKDD, 2018.
