I'm a behavioral scientist who works at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data science, and social science.
I'm currently a Staff Data Scientist at Axios and Axios HQ, where I build AI-powered systems using natural language processing and machine learning to make people "smarter, faster" about news that matters. I've previously taught advanced analytics at Columbia, and I spent several years combining social science and data science with the Gates Foundation at Upworthy to help make stories about global health, poverty, and other "things that matter" reach millions of people.
I've published scientific papers on decision-making processes related to media, politics, morality, health, and well-being, while advocating for the use of "Big Data" analytics and innovative behavioral methodologies to improve psychological science.
My doctoral dissertation was published in Science, and you can read more about my scientific research from the New York Times, the LA Times, the Washington Post, US News & World Report, FiveThirtyEight, and Time, among other outlets.
Outside of my work and academic interests, I'm also a soccer dad, a dog enthusiast, a mediocre poker player, and a pizza aficionado.
