It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe.
I have spent my career in a number of different settings as a designer and developer. I plan to start my own research and development company. My focus is to be on the user experience and instructional resources. Design is becoming a frontier in modern society. We use products we don't understand every day. Why does it work? Why is this one better than that one? We simply don't question this. With my company, I aim to come in and break down some stereotypes surrounding how design impacts business and education. I have always dreamt of running my own business. Working in a setting with a large structure hierarchy is slow moving. Nowadays people spend just over four years in a position. So, if you average that out. One year to become acquainted with the position. Two years to make an impact and another year for an exit. It is extremely unlikely to stay in a company for thirty years or fifteen years. So, why should we climb the corporate ladder? I will build my own and pivot with the times. By this point, I have had to learn non-stop just to stay relevant in design. Business is evolving rapidly. Are we all going to wait for someone to make use of us?
