What is the Soil and Water District seat and why does it matter?
"The Sarasota County Soil and Water Conservation, located in Sarasota, FL, protects and improves Sarasota soil and water resources. A government agency, the Soil and Water Conservation District provides resources on conservation and management for soil, water, and other natural resources. It aims to conserve land, water, forests, and wildlife in Florida state. In addition, the Soil and Water Conservation District Association and the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) provides conservation support for Sarasota residents and businesses." - Sarasota County Office
Should Sean Patton be elected he would be on the top environmental advisory board in Sarasota County helping to preserve our natural resources and waterways. Everything from rural and agricultural lands, parks and preserves, to the parks and suburbs and the canals that flow through them. All habitat and environment needs protection and Sean Patton is just the Scientist for the job! So remember to vote by mail or vote Sean Patton for Soil and Water.
Sean Patton works with a variety of farmers, nurseries, and small growers in Florida during his work with habitat restoration at Stocking Savvy. Should Sean be elected he will work to support local farmers and aquaculture in our community and through the COVID pandemic and economic crisis.
Sean Patton firmly believes in using native, edible, and agricultural or educational plants whenever possible. If elected Sean Patton will fight for more local food in our farmer's markets, education on invasive species and their prevention, and supporting native habitat.
During the COVID Economic Crisis we are facing untold shortages in both labor and danger to our agricultural community. Should Sean Patton be elected he will fight for grant funding and making sure our community gets the state, federal, and county funding we need and deserve.

Yes the race is voted on by all Sarasota county and city citizens.
Is the Soil and Water District Race partisan?
No the Soil and Water Race is non-partisan and will not have a D or R next to it on the ballot.
What does the Soil and Water Board do?
The Soil and Water Board advises Sarasota County on a wide variety of environmental topics in addition to monitoring our soil and water health and conserve natural resources. Everything from parks and forests to canals and shorelines are protected by the Soil and Water Board.
