"Take You There" is the third single by Sean Kingston from his self-titled debut album. It was produced by J.R. Rotem. The song was co-written by Kingston, Rotem, Evan "Kidd" Bogart, Rock City, and Eric Bluebaum. The song is about Kingston taking his girlfriend on a date to the West Indies, particularly his native Jamaica. As he told noted UK urban writer Pete Lewis of Blues & Soul in June 2007: "In 'Take You There' I'm basically telling a girl 'Let me take you to where I'm from - to Jamaica, to the paradise and to the slums!'. Because, while many people just think of the tropical beaches, there is definitely another, rugged side to the island too!"[2] The song was originally supposed to be Kingston's debut single in early May of 2007, but Beautiful Girls became his debut single on May 26, 2007.

The video (directed Gil Green) was shot in Miami, and features cameos by Rick Ross, J. R. Rotem, DJ Khaled and Gunplay. Kingston's girlfriend is played by fashion model Kirby Griffin. In the music video version, "sip pia coladas" is censored because of the reference to alcohol, while left intact on radio stations.

My original thought, before I watched the video, was that maybe Kingston (who, according to Wikipedia, was born in Miami but mostly raised in Kingston, Jamaica) was trying to humanize the kinds of low-income neighborhoods that non-residents often believe are uniformly terrifying and that anyone who would venture there is going to their certain death. Or, if not that, maybe to show some of the horrid realities of living in economically devastated areas.

First things first, Sean Kingston's music is rubbish. Next year nobody will remember who he is. Second his video is a caricature of life in the 'hood. Why are there no old people? Middle aged people? People dressed in everyday clothes going to work? Black neighbourhoods are not only about young dudes hanging out in their nice cars, there are people there who are not angry black males trying to make a living.

Thanks alot Sean, you are indeed a credit when it comes to showing black folk in the right light!

Gangsta music should be taken for what it is: trying to be gangsta. Whether that means the singer is spitting out lyrics about people, places, and situations he truly grew up in, or if he's just talking about the lifestyle and conditions cuz it's cool to him and it might sell more records, is different with each artist. Unfortunately, many rappers fall in the latter category. It has become glamorous to be familiar (or make people think you are familiar) with poverty and violence.

The many peoples are finding a most addictive game then i searched a solitaire card games , everyone to play free this awesome game. you really have to go there and enjoy to play on your pc tablet and smartphone.

I'm no rocket scientist, but I am pretty sure if you have the choice of going to a ghetto neighborhood in a completely foreign place, or going to the beach where it's safe and heavily populated with rich people and clean streets without little kids roaming around with rifles.....the choice seems so clear but maybe it's just me.

this song is pretty self explanatory. Basically, the singer is saying that he isn't afraid of taking the girl in any part of the city, either the ghetto or the white rich part of town. He comes from the ghetto, so people know him, and he also has money and can fit in the rich crowd

I've went to the ghetto before, and I went with a close friend of mine, he told me as long as I stayed close to him, no one would mess with me while we were in his territory, and once we got out of his territory, I could let my guard down and relax.

He's giving her a decision, if she wants to see where he comes from then he will take her to his territory and use his experience to keep her safe, but if she wants to go somewhere else, he'll take her because it's what she wants to do.

yes insightful.

only i don't think he's that bright.

In fact, this is a stupid song. I don't think there's any depth or hidden meaning. It's stupid stupid stupid. Please mister, take me to the ghetto where killers hang out. Show me where to hide. Awesome.

A few days after @wecandubetter made a post encouraging students not to attend the concert, DUPB sent out a mass email and an apologetic Instagram post, announcing that the event would be canceled due to these allegations and lack of research.

Still, for DU students the news came with a lot of mixed feelings. Members of the student body, like Simmons, felt pride in a response that stood against sexual assault and rape culture, but there was also disappointment for many in the fact that MusicFest has been canceled for three years in a row.

Past their initial statement, DUPB and Main Stage, the committee responsible for planning MusicFest, did not respond for further comment. It remains unclear if Kingston will still be paid for the event given a pre-existing contract, if there will be another event in place of Music Fest or what steps DUPB will take to prevent mishaps of this kind in the future. There is speculation that Kingston is walking away with $50,000-60,000 from DU.

Check out the clip ... you see officers leading Sean to an RV, right after he stepped off the stage. While they don't immediately cuff him -- his hands are free in the video -- we know he was subsequently arrested, and cops did note that he went peacefully.

As we reported ... cops arrested Sean on fraud and theft charges just hours after the Broward Sheriff's Office raided his Florida home and arrested his mother, Janice Turner.

Photos we got from inside the house showed a giant LED TV being taken apart panel by panel ... which lines up with the fact an electronics company is suing him for allegedly not paying for a $150k entertainment system.

Kingston is currently being held at San Bernardino County jail, and will remain there through this holiday weekend. We're told he'll have an extradition hearing Tuesday, and then he'll be heading to Broward County to face the fraud and theft charges. 152ee80cbc
