COURSE DESCRIPTION

This short course on oxygen-acetylene welding and cutting was designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of engine and deck personnel on safe and effective application or use of oxyacetylene equipment

The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.

The specific oxygen-acetylene welding and cutting activities identified in this course shall prepare the trainees to perform and deliver the necessary skills and competencies needed for the safe operation of this process and for the effective maintenance of the ship as well.

The modules will touch on various activities in oxyacetylene process such as the safety operation of gas welding, the principle of oxyacetylene welding and cutting.   It also deals with the different application of activities performed in this process such as, welding of different joints and positions, cutting straight, piercing, beveling and brazing.
