COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course on basic welding and fabrication is designed to upgrade and enhance the skill or competency of engine personnel and deck ratings in maintaining the vessel for its safe operation.

The modules will touch on ships maintenance give more emphasis on safety of personnel and the equipment that they are using. The modules below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of competencies are the following; Workshop Safety practices; Basic Electric Welding, Gas welding and Cutting; Use of Workshop tools (Hand and Power Tools), Gauges and Measuring Instruments; Pipe Fitting and the actual fabrication development.
