COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course on shipboard engine operations is designed to upgrade and enhance the skill or competencies of engine personnel that required or expected from them on board. It is also familiarizes to newly graduate seafarer the kind of work they will encounter on board.
The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.
The modules will touch on ships maintenance such as Basic Electric Welding, Gas Welding and Cutting; Basic Lathe Machine Operation; Overhauling of Purifier, Pumps, Valves; Overhauling and Calibration of Fuel Injector Valve and Fuel Injection Pumps. It will also deal with Engine Classifications and engine room routines using Gauges and Measuring Instruments; Workshop tools, pipe fitting and the actual fabrication development.
