COURSE DESCRIPTION
This short course on Engine Room Workshop Practice was designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of safe practice and machinery operation for engine room personnel.
The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.
The specific engine room workshop practice activities identified in this course shall prepare the trainees to perform and deliver the necessary skills and competencies needed for the safe operation of the vessel and for the protection of the marine environment as well.
The modules will touch on ship maintenance such as Workshop safety and Housekeeping, Basic Lathe Machine Operation and Basic Welding and Gas Cutting. It will also deal with the proper use Power and Hand tool, Gauges and Measuring Instruments; Maintenance, Dismantling and Assembling Procedures of Auxiliary Machineries like Bearing (Ball and Roller Bearing), Fuel Oil Purifier, Pumps (Centrifugal and Gear Pumps) and different kinds of Valves are also tackled in this course.
