COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course on shipboard operations for deck cadet is designed to familiarize them the kind of work and responsibilities they will encounter on board.
The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation for either lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.
The module will touch on ship’s maintenance such as Staging and Rigging, Paint Works and Surface Preparation, Knot Tying, Rope and Wire Rope Splicing, Safe Mooring Practices and Deck Equipment Familiarization. The course tackles also the International Regulation for the Prevention of Collision at Sea and Watch keeping Duties. In addition, the course injected the Pumps and Valve Overhauling and Maintenance for additional knowledge in shipboard maintenance operation.
