COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course on Freshman Course for deck is designed to upgrade and enhance the skill or competency of engine support level in maintaining the vessel for its safe operation, familiarize them in the use of different kinds of tools and equipments and the possible job that they will be encountered on board.
The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of competencies.
The modules will touch on ships maintenance such as Working Techniques for safe working operation of the vessel and the use of Workshop tools, Gauges and Measuring Instruments, familiarize with different kinds of Deck Equipments and the onboard on – off load mechanism, Maintenance of Cargo Handling facilities, Safety equipment on Board including the Breathing Apparatus, Paintworks for ship maintenance, Lifting and Slinging, Mooring and Anchor Work, and different kinds of Rope works.
