Welcome to Seabird Bay! Seabird Bay has a very thoughtful backstory, with plenty of Ghibli influence, specifically Ponyo, through the use of prehistoric lifeforms as a signifier of magic. The very setting of the attraction has a sort of backstory; it started off as a peat bog, which then formed into a mountain from the process of continental drift. By coincidence, this was a place where many early winged dinosaurs took flights… not always successful, as you can see some fossils here. These dinosaurs slowly developed into our modern idea of birds, as other organisms of the era died out, most notably the enantiornithes. As the mountain sank into the ocean, more and more seabirds made it a hotspot… and so developed a surf shack; they call it the Presbyornis.
