Basic Rules and Regulations

ABOUT iNATURALIST: If you are interested in learning more about the wildlife around you and getting help with identification, iNaturalist is a great resource. You can create a free account and use the website and app to post pictures and get experts to help with your identification.  Every observation you post can contribute to biodiversity science, from the rarest butterfly to the most common backyard weed. They share your findings with scientific data repositories like the Global Biodiversity Information Facility to help scientists find and use your data. All you have to do is observe and photograph. People of any age and any knowledge-level can use iNaturalist.

ABOUT OUR SCAVENGER HUNT: This is a friendly competition open to students, faculty, and staff at Johnson County Community College. We’ll be looking for signs of life in local parks, trails, neighborhoods, and backyards to see what wildlife share our environment. We want to recognize and celebrate connections with nature. This annual challenge encourages our JCCC community to make and upload as many observations of wild plants, fungi, and animals as they can find during the challenge period from April 1st though May 1st. As a bonus, observations taken from April 28th - May 1st in the KC Metro area will be included in Kansas City's City Nature Challenge.

Awards for winners will be given at our May 3rd SEA Club Meeting at 2pm.
