WHAT IS AUTOMOTIVE BATTERY ?

An automotive battery is a rechargeable power source that provides the electricity needed to start a vehicle and run its electrical systems. When you turn the ignition key or press the start button, the battery supplies power to the starter motor, which cranks the engine. In addition to starting the vehicle, the battery also powers systems like lights, the radio, and onboard electronics when the engine is off. It helps stabilize the voltage to ensure the vehicle’s electrical components operate smoothly. Most automotive batteries are 12-volt lead-acid types, designed to last between three to five years. Regular maintenance and timely replacement are important to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliable vehicle performance. 

BATTERY FUNCTION

The automotive battery serves several important functions in a vehicle. Its primary role is to provide the electrical power needed to start the engine by supplying current to the starter motor and ignition system. Once the engine is running, the battery continues to support the vehicle’s electrical components, especially when the demand exceeds what the alternator can produce. It powers essential systems such as the headlights, dashboard instruments, infotainment systems, and power windows when the engine is off.
