About Us

Our Past

Founded in 2005 by Bonnie D. Stroir, the formerly known San Diego Derby Dolls, now the Derby United Wildfires is a premier roller derby league nestled right in the heart of San Diego. In 2006 we started racing banked track, whilst continuing flat track, making us one of the very first hybrid roller derby teams in the country. In 2012 we became one of 8 founding members of the Roller Derby Coalition of Leagues, a key supporter of banked track women's roller derby. And that's not all we've accomplished either! We're the 2009 and 2010 Battle on the Bank champions and are looking forward to adding more of those wins to our record. 

Our Present 

We think it's of the upmost importance to empower women through the feeling of community, strength and resilience that the sport of Roller Derby provides. That's why we continue forwarding our record of giving the women of San Diego a safe space to be themselves within our league. We try to give young women and girls this sense of community as well through our Youth Group teams as well. We have a lot more in store coming up, so keep your eyes peeled!
