Why Are We Protesting?
We are not okay with being complacent in the face of genocide. Israel is bombing and murdering thousands of people in Palestine. The majority of deaths have been civilians, women, and children. United States universities, corporations, and government bodies have been supporting Israel in this genocide, both financially and with statements of support. We have gathered in protest of the three universities on the Auraria Campus, as they have economic interests in Israel and are financially contributing to the deaths of innocents. We have gathered in solidarity with protests across the nation.
SDS Denver Demands:
The University of Colorado Denver (CU)
Statement
The University of Colorado shall write and publish a statement condemning the genocidal actions of Israel.
Meeting
Chancellor Michelle Marks of CU Denver will meet with student organizers to discuss and plan the implementation of these demands directed at CU.
Divestment
The University of Colorado shall fully divest from any corporations which operate in Israel.
Transparency
The University of Colorado shall fully disclose their financial investments.
End to Study Abroad
The University of Colorado shall terminate their study abroad programs to Israel.
Refuse Grants
The University of Colorado shall refuse to accept grants or funding from corporations that contract with the U.S. armed forces and terminate any relationships with said corporations
Metropolitan State University (MSU)
Statement
Metropolitan State University shall write and publish a statement condemning the genocidal actions of Israel.
Meeting
President of MSU Denver, Janine A. Davidson will meet with student organizers to discuss and plan the implementation of these demands directed at MSU.
Divestment
Metropolitan State University shall fully divest from any corporations which operate in Israel. End all aid to Israel.
Transparency
Metropolitan State University shall fully disclose their financial investments.
Cease Association with Lockheed Martin
Metropolitan State University shall end all associations with Lockheed Martin and other arms defense corporations. Stop Accepting money and cease manufacturing parts for them.
