Organizers

Dr. Yada Zhu is a research staff member from IBM Research. She leads a group of researchers with machine learning and statistics background to develop algorithms for Investment Research and new architect of risk management in digital banking. Her research interests include time series forecasting, heterogeneous learning and messy graph partition. Dr. Zhu has published over 40 articles on top venues and served on the editorial board for technical journals in the area of statistics and machine learning, Senior Program Committee (PC) of AAAI, PC of KDD, IJCAI, etc. She is a senior member of IEEE and chair of Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining community at IBM Research.

Dr. Jingrui He is an associate professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her PhD in machine learning from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. Her research focuses on heterogeneous machine learning, rare category analysis, active learning and semi-supervised learning, with applications in social network analysis, healthcare, and manufacturing processes. She is the recipient of the 2016 NSF CAREER Award and a three-time recipient of the IBM Faculty Award, in 2018, 2015 and 2014 respectively, and was selected for an IJCAI 2017 Early Career Spotlight. He has published more than 90 refereed articles, and is the author of the book, Analysis of Rare Categories (Springer-Verlag, 2011). Her papers have been selected as "Best of the Conference" by ICDM 2016, ICDM 2010, and SDM 2010. She has served on the senior program committee/program committee for Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD), International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), SIAM International Conference on Data Mining (SDM), and International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML). She has organized various workshops for SDM, ICDM, KDD and IJCAI.

Dr. Douglas Burdick is a research staff member from IBM Research. He leads the program of scalable knowledge intelligence for financial service. He is the primary organizer of Data Science for Macro-Modeling with Financial and Economic Datasets Workshop sponsored by ACM. His research interests include natural language processing, time series analysis and knowledge discovery.

Dr. Jianbo Li is the Head of Risk Analytics at Three Bridges Capital. He obtained his PhD from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. His research interests include time series forecasting, graph, and generative models with application in investment research and asset management.

Dawei Zhou is currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His current research interests include rare category analysis, active learning, and semi-supervised learning, with applications in financial fraud detection, social network analysis. Dawei Zhou has worked on rare category analysis for five years, which results in 10 publications at major conferences (e.g., IJCAI, AAAI, KDD, SDM, ICDM, CIKM) and journals (e.g., TKDD, DMKD).
