A PhD research project
Welcome!
My name is Regina Woon, and I am a PhD student in the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya, Malaysia (About Me). This site is about my research project "Interplay of Internal and External Structures in Unschooling Learners' Self-Directed Learning (SDL) Activities", where you will find information about this project in order to decide if you would like to join.
My research intends to describe unschooling learners' SDL experiences and how they manage their SDL activities. In particular, I am interested in better understanding how interactions between the self and others shape unschooling learners' SDL and actions, and what challenges and supports their SDL.
The whole village! No...no...no... but it will involve multiple perspectives:
participants (aged between 14-17);
participants' parent(s);
facilitators, or those who work closely with participants, who have insights into participants' learning journeys.
Participating in this research will involve:-
Screening participant's interview (Potential participants)
A series of in-depth interviews (Participants)
Interviews will be conducted with participants' parent(s), facilitators, or those who have insights into participants' learning journey.
Collection of documents and artifacts related to participants' learning effort and learning journey.
Contacting on the progress of the study via email or different kinds of correspondence.
Interviews will be conducted online or face-to-face, at a time and location (face-to-face) that are convenient for you.
Your participation in this study is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time without any consequences. Your data and information will be kept confidential.
If you are an unschooling learner (aged between 14-17) and interested to get on board, please download the Participant Information Sheet. I will need your assent and consent from your parent(s).
If you are a parent of an unschooled teenager and interested to participate, please download the Participant Information Sheet for Parents.
Please read it carefully and take your time to decide. If there is anything that is not clear, or you would like to ask questions and get more information, drop me an email: S2035158@siswa.um.edu.my or sdlresearchproject@gmail.com
I look forward to hearing from you!
