Worlshop #1: "Playful Pathways:
Kodaly for Children"
Discover the power of playful learning through the Kodály approach! Explore the "unconscious concepts" that naturally develop musical understanding in early childhood, and learn practical strategies for gamifying songs through the use of manipulatives, movement, and children's literature that captivate and inspire learners across all elementary grade levels.
Participants will also discover how Kodály-inspired teaching practices extend beyond the elementary classroom and can be applied across all areas of music education. Through hands-on activities and interactive experiences, learn how a sequential, student-centered approach fosters joyful, meaningful, and playful music-making in general music, choral, instrumental, and private lesson settings alike.
A once public school of the Encinitas Union School District, built in the 1950s, the lovely renovated Pacific View Arts Center has become a new civic gem of the City of Encinitas. Eight state-of-the-art classrooms, including a media arts room, a recording studio, a large danceroom, and visual art rooms, support classes for visual and performing arts of all kinds. San Diego Kodály is grateful for the opportunity to have our workshops at a wonderful location, just a few yards away literally from the view of the Pacific Ocean!
