Dr. Sayan Dey
Dr. Sayan Dey earned his PhD in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2020. Following his doctoral work, he was a postdoctoral fellow at IIT Bombay and later received the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship, joining Columbia University as a visiting scientist in November 2021. Presently, he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, School of Electrical and Computer Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar since December 2022.
His research expertise spans semiconductor device fabrication, chemical sensors, electrical spectroscopy, and nanostructured materials, with a focus on sensor interfacing electronics. Dr. Dey has published over 30 articles in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and conferences, with his work cited 387 times, reflecting his significant contribution to the field. He also co-owns an Indian patent for a selective toluene vapor sensor.
Dr. Dey has twice received the Innovative Student Projects Award from the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for his M.Tech and PhD theses. He has been a member of INAE since 2020 and actively reviews for top scientific journals. He is also the co-author of two textbooks on electronic device fabrication. He is an active member and chair of the newsletter committee of the IEEE Bhubaneswar section.
With over ten years of hands-on experience in nanostructure growth, sensor device fabrication, and clean room facilities, Dr. Dey is highly skilled in advanced instrumentation and characterization techniques. Since 2022, he has been leading the Sensors and Spectroscopy Research Group at IIT Bhubaneswar, where he also oversees the Microfabrication and Characterization Lab and the Integrated Devices and Electronic Applications Lab.
