About Us

The San Diego District Attorney's Office has participated in the 120-mile Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay Race since 1998. 

Our runners are made up of current and retired Deputy District Attorneys, District Attorney Investigators, Paralegals, Support Staff, and other full-time SDCDA employees. Our support crew are made up of both employees, non-employees, and family-friends. 

Over the years, our office has traditionally maintained top ranking to be awarded the coveted B2V-Mug, as shown in the picture below of our first Team Captains then DAI Randy Lawrence and DAI Phil Sowers. 

Lighting speed has struck more then once for us. In 2000 and 2010, we placed first in the Invitational Mixed category (requires a minimum of 5-female runners on the team). Then in 2019 and 2022, we placed first in the 800 Invitational Mixed category (requires the combined age of our 20-runners to total 800 years or more and a minimum of 5-female runners).
