INTRODUCTION TO FOUNDATIONAL LIMITATIONS
By the end of Unit 2, participants will have acquired a toolbox of self-assessment techniques to identify their limitations and gain insight into their thought patterns and beliefs.
They will also understand how past experiences have contributed to their foundational limitations. This self-awareness is a crucial first step toward personal growth and overcoming these limitations.
Unit 2 focuses on the critical process of self-assessment, which serves as a foundational step in identifying, understanding, and addressing foundational limitations. Through a combination of self-assessment tools, reflection exercises, and guided discussions, participants will gain insight into their own limitations and the underlying factors that contribute to them.
2.1 Self-Assessment Tools for Identifying Limitations In this section, participants are introduced to a variety of self-assessment tools and techniques designed to help them identify their foundational limitations. These tools may include questionnaires, surveys, and self-reflection exercises. Students are guided through the process of using these tools to gain a clearer understanding of their personal limitations. Emphasis is placed on the importance of objectivity and honesty in this self-assessment process.
2.2 Identifying Limiting Beliefs and Thought Patterns One of the core components of foundational limitations is the presence of limiting beliefs and thought patterns. This part of the module explores how to recognize and address these negative cognitive patterns. Participants will learn to identify common cognitive distortions such as all-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing, and self-criticism. The goal is to help students become aware of their self-sabotaging thought processes and to challenge and reframe them.
2.3 Recognizing the Role of Past Experiences in Shaping Limitations Our past experiences, including childhood, trauma, and societal influences, play a significant role in shaping our foundational limitations. This section of the module delves into the impact of past experiences on an individual's self-perception and limitations. Participants explore how early experiences and social conditioning can lead to the development of fears, insecurities, and limiting beliefs. The goal is to help students understand the origins of their limitations and the ways these past experiences continue to influence their present behaviours and beliefs.
Self-Assessment Tools: Participants complete self-assessment questionnaires and exercises to gain insight into their own limitations.
Group Discussion: Students discuss their experiences with identifying limitations and share any surprising insights.
Belief Mapping: Participants create visual representations of their limiting beliefs and thought patterns to better understand their cognitive distortions.
Timeline Exercise: Students create a personal timeline of significant life events and experiences to identify potential sources of foundational limitations.
