I am a first year masters student in the Student Development Administration Program at Seattle University. I am currently interested in functional areas of Campus Activities, Housing and Residence Life, & Fraternity and Sorority Life. The salient identities that I hold that are most present in how I approach my practice is being a low-income first-generation multi-racial student. I also a currently able-bodied and have no personal history with working with Disability Services.
I am interested in exploring this topic because it is not something I am personally familiar with. To be a better serving practitioner I want to understand the policies and procedures that this student population has to abide by. Accommodations and the student experience don't end at the classroom so understanding the barriers that exist within my spheres of influence within activities and event programming is important to make sure that we are making our programs accessible to all.
