This course is newly designed and developed by Dr Trang Do, and is offered by School of Innovation, Design and Technology, Whitireia and Weltec, one of New Zealand's oldest tertiary education institutions which always focuses on teaching real skills.
An Intelligent System is a system that takes intelligence produced via machine learning and other approaches, leverages and supports it to achieve meaningful objectives and to improve over time.
In this course, students will be introduced to the concepts and the architecture of an intelligent system with its components.
You will learn about different machine learning and deep learning algorithms such as kNN, linear regression, k-Means clustering, CNN and RNN, and excitedly, you will design and develop your own algorithms using Python - the world's most popular data science programming language and also one of the world's most widely used computer programming languages.
You will gain lots of hands-on experiences with Python libraries and packages such as NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, Keras, TensorFlow and Tkinter.
You will work with famous datasets like Digits dataset, New York temperature dataset, California Housing dataset, Iris dataset, NOAA’s global sea level and temperature dataset, diabetes dataset, breast cancer Wisconsin diagnostic dataset, MNIST dataset and IMDb dataset, and the big EMNIST dataset.
You will also be introduced to image processing techniques and work with OpenCV - an open-source library for computer vision and image processing.
Most excitedly, you will fully design and develop your own real intelligent systems with attractive GUIs and good performance.
"This is a very magical and practical course!" - one of my students has said.
“Before this course I had no experience with machine learning and Python but now I know how to use models such as KNN, Linear Regression, and CNN to identify digits, predict and identify trends, and identify Māori symbols. I have gained a lot of knowledge in the field that I did not have previously and am excited to use it in the future and jobs.”
Another said “The most interesting thing I found during the course was understanding how computers can be used in a way that seems very human, such as training a computer to recognise symbols or digits in images. It has been very interesting to learn the techniques and models that enable this kind of intelligence. From a simple model like KNN to a more complicated one like neural network or CNN. This has been a very enjoyable part of the course and I am excited to learn more about this.”
Do you want to achieve like my students have achieved? Do you want to be excited like how my students have been excited?
