In this interactive session, participants will examine ideas, beliefs, and values to gain a better understanding of how labels and assumptions can impact learning inside and outside of the classroom. Participants will be encouraged to increase cultural awareness through stories, media, and literature.

This session will dive into the challenges of being a pre-teen and teenager in the age of social media. This round table-type discussion will dive into the many areas that plague this age group in the school, church, and community, including but not limited to cyber bullying, peer pressure and finding oneself. The mission of this session is to have honest conversation around self-esteem and finding your purpose, despite potential negative influences around you. You don't want to miss this conversation!

This session brings a few professionals from various careers (i.e chef, teacher, published author, etc.) together to speak about life after school. Topics covered may include: How each person chose their career, the requirements they had to meet to earn their positions, what their work experiences are like, etc. Students who attend this session are encouraged to with questions.

In this session, there will be a panel of SCHS and MLCHS Alum who have returned to share their college experiences. Topics that may be covered include: the differences between college & high school, small vs. large universities, how they are paying for their education, etc. Students attending this session are encouraged to come with questions

The goal of this interactive session is to inspire an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) by giving them a hands-on experience designing a parachute. This session is lead by two Collins high school students who are both in a STEM career pathway.

Students who attend this workshop will have an opportunity to think critically about their goals and hopes for the future by creating a personalized vision board. Vision boards help both students and adults keep a laser-like focus on their goals to ensure that they are successful at whatever they put their mind to.
KHEAA representative Candice Johnson will have a booth available for parents & students to ask questions about paying for college! She will also have a session called #moneymoves at 10:00am
A minority recruiter from Berea College (Mr. Frank Polion) will have a booth to provide information about the school to parents & students!
The Shelby County branch of the NAACP will be present. They will be registering those 18+ to vote & recruiting students to their Youth program.
