Junior Music Competition
October 12, 2024
October 12, 2024
Students of all ages, levels and instruments are welcome to participate in this recital style competition. Students will perform one piece from the period of their choice. Their piece should accurately represent the musical period (for example when entering the contemporary period, the participant should not pick a piece composed in the Baroque or Classical style) Each musical period will be judged independently and entries in each period will be limited. If there is enough interest, more recitals will be added, and participants the organizers may decide to separated students by age. Piano and strings will be judged separately. One winner from each music period will be chosen by the judge as the overall winner and announced at the end of the recital. All participants will receive a recognition trophy for performing in their chosen musical period. The cost is $35 and payment will be due in early September. This competition series is designed to encourage students to learn and perform in all four different periods of music. Students may not enter a category twice within a four year period. Overall category winners may not win twice within a four year period, but are encouraged to participate for their recognition trophies. Participants who perform in all four periods will receive special recognition while accepting their final and fourth award.
