Call for Application - P-SCULC Student Editors
Description:
The Bruin Linguists Society (BLing) would like to share an exciting opportunity for linguistics undergraduate students to become editors for the Proceedings of the Southern California Undergraduate Linguistics Conference (P-SCULC). The P-SCULC Student Editor application is a unique opportunity for linguistics undergraduate students to gain practical proofreading, copy-editing and research skills under the supervision of Dr. Silvestri (UCLA Linguistics) and with the assistance from BLing officers. The position is unpaid, but research credits will be awarded.
Expectations:
Current UCLA undergraduate in major/minors in the Linguistics department
Be in good academic standing and eligible to enroll in credit classes during Fall 2024
Completed at least LING 20 and one other class in linguistics
Attend at least part of the Southern California Undergraduate Linguistics Conference 2024 (May 17th, Saturday 9AM-5:30PM)
Responsibilities as editors include:
Participate in writing the P-SCULC style guide, mission statement, and editorials
Produce constructive, well-informed pieces of review, including points of revision, based on linguistics research conventions
Assist the creative team for layout, visual design, and promotion
Application Checklist:
Prepare to submit your CV (including relevant coursework) and a written reflection about one page in length describing personal interests in linguistics research and the experience of attending SCULC 2024. Please be specific when possible, and you are welcome to mention specific presentations as they relate to your personal interests.
