This year's Winter 2-Man (woman) Tournament will operate under the following conditions:
Each 2-man team needs to consist of players with a combined handicap of 35 or higher (handicaps need to be verified through USGA or our site).
Teams will be placed in a bracket based off your combined handicap and compete in a head-to-head scoring match.
The location of each match-up will be suggested by the team with the largest total team handicap, but agreed upon by both.
Cost will be $50/player, so $100/team
Payouts will be: 1st Place $750 and a commemorative cup, 2nd Place $400, and 3rd Place $200
Each competition will follow a Modified Alternate Shot Format and scoring for the match will be going by Skins/Match Play.
Basically, each player will hit a tee shot.
Then, the teammates will hit a second shot from their teammate's ball.
At this point, the team will have to choose a ball to play.
The shot that is taken, will determine the order of the alternate shot process.
From this point, each team will continue alternating shots until the ball is holed.
Skin is determined by the team with the lowest score on the hole.
This process will continue on each hole.
Score is based on how many skins are won. There will be no pushes during this event, so each hole is worth only 1 skin.
Gimmie Putts are determined by the opposing team.
Drop shots do not count as a "shot" that is taken by a player. If player A hits the ball out of play, player B still has to play the next shot after the penalty is assigned.
Common SBGT Rules:
If you hit a ball OB, you cannot play the ball from that area marked with white stakes and the club length relief cannot save you from being OB. You can choose 1 of 3 options: (1) you can trace your path from the initial shot to where you entered the OB markings and drop anywhere along that path for a 1 stroke penalty, (2) you can take a drop from where the previous shot was taken, or (3) you can go up next to where your ball has come to rest in the OB area and drop in the fairway for a 2-stroke penalty. ***Option 1 is not an option under USGA rules. ***
If you hit a ball into a hazard, you can choose 1 of the 3 options: (1) play the ball from the hazard area (with the one club relief, but it cannot take you out of the hazard) with no penalty, (2) you can trace your path from the initial shot to where you entered the red/yellow markings and drop anywhere along that path for a 1 stroke penalty, or (3) you can take a drop from where the previous shot was taken.
You can move the ball up to a driver length in any direction not closer to the hole and you cannot change your lie. Meaning if your are in the sand, you are in the sand, in the water, you are in the water, in the rough, stay in the rough. If you are in a patch of roots or on a cart path, please do not break your club, take a driver length away from the nearest point. You also cannot use your driver length to put yourself on those objects to get relief from them.
Feel free to make somebody caddie for you if you/your team hits the green and they do not. It is how we play!!!!!!!
