Development of construction quality management technology for intelligent road infrastructure
(Co-PI, KRW 4,681,900,000), 2020-2025
This project proposes to develop efficiency & quality improvement technologies for construction of prefab-based road structures using shape measurement technology. This project will include 1) development of system that enables decision making of constructability of prefab structures during construction based on as-is shapes of the structures, 2) structural integrity and construction quality monitoring technology during transportation, and 3) development of standard guidelines for construction quality monitoring and management system
Experiencing construction site visit in classroom
(PI, KRW 10,000,000), 2020-2021
This project proposes to use 360 cameras to acquire key information of construction site environments and spatiotemporal processes and activities. This project will include the development of a web-based digital platform providing multiple functions that students can exploit to obtaining the construction knowledge in an effective and active manner. it is expected that this project can help current construction education to move away from a teacher-centered learning process into a more collaborative student-centered one.
Development of Automated Formwork and Rebar Inspection Technology for RC Structures using Laser Scanning (PI, KRW 30,000,000), 2020-2021
This study aims to develop a TLS based end-to-end technique that automatically and simultaneously assesses the primary dimensional quality checklists for formwork and rebar. To this end, machine-learning and AI methodologies are applied and further investigated to enhance the inspection efficiency and accuracy.
Development of rapid and accurate geometrical inspection system for prefabricated bridge components using sensor fusion (PI, KRW 13,000,000), 2020-2021
This study aims to develop a rapid shape measurement and management system for prefabricated bridge components using sensor fusion. The research contents are: 1) design and development of sensor fusion measurement system and 2) accurate feature extraction algorithms using data fusion algorithm
As-is bridge BIM Model generation and damage information extraction for automated bridge maintenance (PI, KRW 33,000,000), 2016-2017 (completed)
This study aimed to develop a new inspection method for bridge maintenance based on smart sensing and to develop a systematic maintenance system that links measured information and BIM. The scope and contents of this project aiming for as-is bridge BIM model generation and damage information extraction method development are: 1) Bridge As-Is BIM model generation automation methodology and algorithm development, 2) Bridge damage measurement and quantification technique development, and 3) Developing techniques for mapping damage information of bridges to BIM
