Course Policies
Communication: Students may interact with the instructor via Canvas Inbox (preferred), email, telephone and by appointment through Zoom or Pronto office hours. The response time to email is within 48 hours Monday-Thursday, exclusive of school holidays.
Drop/No Show: The first weekly assignment must be submitted by the due date to avoid being dropped from the class.
Absence: Students that miss 2 consecutive weeks (modules) will be dropped.
Late Work: For any late work to be accepted, advanced notice is required. Late exams are NOT permitted.
Integrity
Students will securely log in to access online course materials.
Each student’s forum posts and assignments will be compared for consistency of writing style and originality. Learning forum posts encourage students to offer a unique perspective in response to questions/prompts.
Academic dishonesty is discouraged because students are required to provide original examples.
Exams will be timed and available during a short window of time to inhibit collusion.
Midterm and final exams are timed.
Methodology
Online Midterm and Final Exam will be administered through Canvas.
Group problem-solving exercises and discussions will be completed in forums using Canvas.
Delivery
This is a fully online class.
Students will participate in online activities for the equivalent amount of time as the face-to-face class meets in the classroom: 46.5 hours (3 hours per week for a 16 week semester).
Again, students may interact with the instructor via course email and/or office hours.
Again, The instructor will respond to all course email within 48 hours Monday-Friday, exclusive of school holidays.
Again, the instructor will also be available for face-to-face meetings as well as real-time mediated conversations using tools such as Zoom.
Announcements will be used to prompt students when a new week of content is available.
The instructor will routinely prompt students to complete course tasks.
Forums will be set up so that students can post course questions, organize study groups, and work together on course content. Students are encouraged to post questions and concerns to the forums so that all students can benefit. Such forums build a sense of community and encourage student engagement.
Students will be expected to contribute to learning forums and class activities sincerely and substantively. Additionally, forums/class activities will prompt students to interact with each other in meaningful and substantive ways.
The instructor will be an active partaker and promoter in learning forums; working to engage students and improve the quality of contact for all.
The instructor will provide timely and substantive feedback after learning forums and class activities; whether it is individually or en masse will depend upon the learning forum/class activity and the type of feedback.
The instructor will prompt students who are not regularly participating in coursework and/or who have not accessed the class after two weeks.
Online students will NOT have access to the Canvas online teaching interface until the first day of the semester. You will need your RAMID to login. (information on obtaining your RAMID below)
Login and password information will be emailed using the Gmail address assigned to you at registration. Check this CCSF Gmail address, and your spam filters, for this crucial information. All students should go to the MYCCSF link on the CCSF homepage to login to Web4 to see their CCSF Gmail address. There you will also see the link to obtain your RAMID which is required to login to online courses in Canvas. And you will find the link to the Canvas portal.
All online students should receive "Welcome to Spring 2024" letter from registration and later a welcome letter from the instructor by email and in the Announcements in Canvas.
