ScrollWise ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the ScrollWise mobile app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
ScrollWise is designed to work primarily on-device. We collect and process the following categories of information:
Profile information you enter: your name and step goal preferences.
Activity data: step counts and step history (including timestamps for progress and goal completion).
App-blocking data: selected apps to block (such as app name/package name), block/unblock state, and related timestamps.
Device app list data: installed app metadata (app name/package name) used to let you choose apps to block.
App settings and preferences: theme, notifications, reminder interval, onboarding completion, and similar configuration data.
Accessibility event data: current foreground app package name used to enforce app blocking rules, and step sensor events used to count steps in the background even when the app is killed/closed.
Notification interaction data: local notification payloads when you tap notifications.
Note: The Accessibility Service is used to detect the currently active app for blocking purposes and to count your steps in the background on the device.
We Do Not collect, read, store, or transmit text input, keystrokes, passwords, or personal content from any other apps.
Depending on your device and settings, ScrollWise may request:
Activity Recognition: to read step data from your device pedometer.
Accessibility Service: to detect foreground app changes and block selected apps when your goal is not met, and to count your steps in the background even when the app is closed so no walking data is lost.
Usage Access / Package visibility permissions: to identify installed apps and support app-blocking behavior.
Notification permission: to send motivation and progress notifications.
Alarm/Boot-related permissions: to support reminder and blocking behavior after restarts and at scheduled times.
You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings, but some features may stop working.
We use information to:
Track your daily steps and progress toward goals.
Lock/unlock selected apps based on your configured step goals.
Show reminders, motivation, and goal-completion notifications.
Save your preferences and keep the app functioning across restarts.
Your data is stored locally on your device (for example, via on-device app storage).
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your personal information with third-party advertisers.
We do not transmit your step data or blocked-app selections to our servers as part of the app's core functionality.
ScrollWise does not use third-party analytics services, advertising SDKs, or tracking technologies.
If app distribution platforms (such as Google Play) or your device OS process information independently, that processing is governed by their own privacy policies.
Your data is stored locally ON YOUR device (for example, via on-device app storage).
We keep data until you delete it in-app (if available), clear app data, or uninstall the app.
Because ScrollWise does not maintain cloud accounts or remote servers, deleting the app or clearing its storage permanently deletes all associated data.
We use reasonable measures to protect data stored by the app. However, no method of storage is 100% secure, and device-level security also depends on your phone settings (screen lock, OS updates, etc.). Data stored locally on your device is protected by Android’s application sandboxing and your device’s security settings.
ScrollWise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
You can:
Update your profile and goals in app settings.
Disable notifications in app or device settings.
Revoke Activity Recognition, Accessibility, and other permissions in device settings.
Stop using the app and remove local data by uninstalling or clearing app storage.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights related to access, deletion, or correction of personal information. Because ScrollWise primarily stores data locally on your device, many of these controls are directly available to you through your device and app settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" above.
