Privacy Policy for scri+

Effective date: May 21, 2026

Last updated: May 21, 2026

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Overview

scri+ is a mobile research companion for arXiv and INSPIRE users. scri+ is developed and operated by Fikri Keleser.

scri+ helps you browse arXiv feeds, save papers, organize bundles, store notes, create Page Clips from PDF pages, prepare AI briefing prompts, track INSPIRE citation activity, follow selected authors, and create local backups.

scri+ is designed around local-first storage. Most of your research data is stored on your device. scri+ does not provide cloud sync in version 1.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Data Stored on Your Device

scri+ may store the following data locally on your device:

• saved papers and paper metadata

• bundles and bundle organization

• notes and Research Context text

• Page Clips and Page Clip images

• AI briefing prompts and pasted external AI results

• arXiv feed preferences

• INSPIRE profile and watchlist settings

• citation and watchlist report data

• app preferences and local settings

This data is stored locally unless you choose to export, back up, share, or paste it into another service.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Backup Files

scri+ lets you manually create backup files. Backup files may include saved papers, bundles, notes, Page Clips, AI Briefings, Research Context, watchlist/profile settings, and app preferences.

Cached PDFs are excluded from backups. Pro status and subscription entitlement state are not stored in backups.

Backup files are not encrypted by scri+ in version 1. If you store or share a backup file, protect it as you would protect private research notes.

You choose where backup files are saved or shared. Anyone with access to a backup file may be able to access the research data inside it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Network Requests to arXiv and INSPIRE

scri+ makes network requests to arXiv and INSPIRE to load paper feeds, paper metadata, author/profile information, citation information, and watchlist updates.

These services may receive technical information such as your IP address, request time, requested arXiv sections, paper identifiers, author identifiers, and search or lookup parameters. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies.

scri+ does not use Google Scholar.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Subscriptions and RevenueCat

scri+ Pro subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play. Subscription billing, cancellation, refunds, and payment details are handled by Apple or Google.

scri+ uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlement status. RevenueCat may process purchase identifiers, entitlement status, product identifiers, app user identifiers generated for subscription management, device/app information, and related subscription metadata.

RevenueCat does not process your payment card details for scri+; payments are handled by Apple or Google.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

External AI Services

scri+ does not provide in-app AI generation in version 1. AI Briefing works by preparing prompts that you may copy into an external AI tool. You may then paste the external result back into scri+.

If you use an external AI service, the text you provide to that service is handled under that service’s own terms and privacy policy.

Be careful before sharing sensitive notes, unpublished work, or private research material with third-party AI tools.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Notifications

scri+ uses local notifications where supported.

In version 1, scri+ does not use remote push notifications to send your research data to a server.

Notification permissions are controlled by your device operating system.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Data Sharing

scri+ does not sell your research data. scri+ does not provide cloud sync in version 1.

Data may be shared or transmitted only in limited situations:

• when you make requests to arXiv or INSPIRE

• when subscription status is checked through RevenueCat, Apple, or Google

• when you manually export, save, restore, or share backup files

• when you manually copy prompts or content into an external AI service

• when required to comply with law or platform requirements

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Data Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you remove it.

You can remove local app data by deleting items in the app where available, using app settings where available, uninstalling the app, or clearing app data through your operating system.

Backup files remain wherever you choose to save them. Deleting the app does not delete backup files stored elsewhere.

Subscription records are managed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Children

scri+ is intended for researchers, students, and other users interested in academic research workflows.

It is not directed to children under 13.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

International Users

The services used by scri+, including arXiv, INSPIRE, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and any external AI service you choose to use, may process data in countries other than your own.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as scri+ changes.

If the changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to make the updated policy available in the app or store listing.
