Project Screen Smart! started on January 1 and culminated with a youth exchange from July 14 to July 22 2025, at Hotel Súkenická in a village Bíla located nearby Slovakia borders in Frýdek-Místek district.
The main goal of was to to strengthen digital literacy, cybersecurity, and acquire principles of psychohygiene among young people. This was implemented through non-formal education and intercultural exchange.
Main aims of the project reached within the project:
Participants learned fundamental principles of safe online behavior and personal data protection. Through workshops they acquired practical tools and skills to reduce the risk of becoming victim in online world.
Participants learned how to balance time spent online and offline, and what are the reasons of these habits for sustainable mental health for our lives.
Promote a critical thinking about the content presented on the social medias. And what are the positive examples of usage the digital technologies in our daily live.
The project topic was introduced to participants via various non-formal education methods, namely workshops and team games. During these activities the participants dived deep into the problematique of the topic and developed own soft skills like communication, discussion, cooperation and self reflection.
Also several trips were organized to promote the region among the foreign visitors, like Frýdek-Místek or Ostrava city visits and small hiking trip into the mountains. Moreover, several sport activities were incorporated into the program for all project participants.
The media outcomes of the project are short movie and photo presentation capturing experiences and progress of the project. Special hashtag was dedicated to dissemination of the project on the social medias.
In total 48 participants, including 2 with fewer opportunities, and 7 groups leaders participated in the project. Workshops were ensured by two university students as the facilitators. All of them were supported by 4 other organizers.
The participant groups consist of young people interested in mindful and healthy life style aware of importance of empathy, tolerance and cooperation.
The impact of the project targets participants, organizers, partner organizations and the local community. It influenced young people to develop their digital literacy and competences. They have realized the importance of balanced between online and offline time in our daily life. At the same time the impact is raised awareness about side effects of social media and ability to reflect critically with a distance presented content.
During the project, feedback from participants was continuously collected to rate the arranged activities. Stated activities were ranked as the most memorable and helpful ones:
