ScreenSafe Blur is a privacy-focused Chrome extension designed to help users visually hide sensitive information on web pages during screen sharing, presentations, meetings, recordings, or demonstrations.
We take user privacy seriously. This privacy policy explains how ScreenSafe Blur handles data and ensures transparency for users.
ScreenSafe Blur does not collect any user data.
The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:
Personal information (name, email address, phone number, etc.)
Login credentials or passwords
Financial or payment information
Health-related information
Messages, emails, or personal communications
Browsing history or visited URLs
Location data
User activity such as keystrokes, clicks, or mouse movement
ScreenSafe Blur works by applying visual blur effects to sensitive-looking text on a webpage only after the user manually enables the feature.
The extension may visually blur:
Email address patterns
Phone number patterns
Long numeric values (such as IDs or account numbers)
Custom keywords defined by the user
All processing happens locally within the user’s browser.
No webpage content is read, stored, analyzed, or transmitted outside the browser.
The extension uses Chrome’s local storage API only to save user preferences, such as:
Whether privacy mode is enabled or disabled
Selected blur categories
Custom keywords added by the user
This information:
Is stored locally on the user’s device
Never leaves the browser
Is never shared with third parties
ScreenSafe Blur requests the minimum permissions required to perform its single purpose:
activeTab – to apply visual blur effects only on the currently active tab when the user enables the extension
storage – to save user settings locally
scripting – to inject blur logic into the page after user interaction
Host access – to allow blur effects on any website when enabled by the user
These permissions are used strictly for visual masking and not for data collection.
ScreenSafe Blur:
Does not sell user data
Does not share data with third parties
Does not use analytics or tracking services
Does not integrate with external servers or APIs
ScreenSafe Blur does not use remote code.
All JavaScript and logic required for the extension is packaged within the extension itself and runs locally in the browser, in compliance with Chrome Extension Manifest V3 policies.
The extension operates only when the user chooses to activate it.
Users can:
Enable or disable privacy mode at any time
Remove all blur effects instantly
Uninstall the extension at any time
If this privacy policy is updated in the future, the revised version will be published on the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing or associated privacy policy page.
