Art is hard. Sometimes there are pictures that must be painted or drawings that demand to be put on paper. But just as many times, there's the canvas that stays blank and the pencils that stay perfectly sharpened. Great artists know, though, that they have something—a story, a feeling, a message—that must be shared with the world. Or at least with their high school.

The only time Maia Hall (she/her) was ever grounded was for reading a book she wasn't supposed to. These days, she is a tormented worldbuilder, an obsessed botanist, and an editor for the Scratchpad. She suffers from a knitting addiction, strong opinions, a Google Doc of bad jokes, deteriorating handwriting, a fondness for ships, and a love of opera and Germanic languages. She is currently a junior at South. Find her photographs "Middle Earth" here and "Lake Michigan" here!
