"Scratch Day México, a shared learning experience"

Since 2009 a group of friends from Las Hayas School and Edukreativos Team, that worked for many years in educational technology and also computational thinking, decided that Scratch would be the bonding force to share in Mexico.

We all have followed Seymour Papert´s Teachings as well as a philosophy, all ages teaching and learning in the same place seeing each other as peers.

So we started to organice the Scratch Day Mexico since May 2009 to date, quite a great experience that we share with other communities and are already ten years of learning.

An event that has allowed a group of teachers of different educational levels to combine a series of learnings and challenges.

We have built the scaffolding so that Scratch is a reference for teachers, students, authorities and educational institutions.

Our experiences are:

• The creation of the "Little Teachers", as a group of the Las Hayas School , introduced in 2008 during the XVII SOMECE Children and Youth Encounter. They are children age range from 8 to 15 years old discovering their skills to teach children and adults supported by their Mentor Lula García; they began to be part of our workshops at Scratch Day 2009.

• The "Edukreative Caps" as an essential part of our projects.

• Share and work with other private and government institutions and education groups.

• Invite experts in the "Edukreative Talks"/ at the event and in webcast.

• STEAM Workshops, in mixed age groups.

• During the "Diploma Didactic Strategies for the teaching of basic computer skills" were translated the Scratch codes into 7 indigenous languages.

• In 2014 we celebrated the Scratch Day in honor of the illustrious teacher Yolanda Campos Campos for her 50th Magisterial Anniversary

• Join forces with the Makers of Mexico .

• Invite the champions of international tournaments and share their experiences.

• We have done Scratch Day in the Interactive Museum of Xalapa and the Papalote Museo del Niño in Mexico City.

• Referent for other countries such as Panama, who has invited us to give Scratch workshops in their country and they sent some panamanians teachers to participate with us in Scratch Day Mexico 2018, and they request our support to make the Scratch Day Panama soon.

• We hope to continue learning and motivating others to learn with us.

• The challenges imposed in this decade allow us to advance in what we have dreamed, the world learning together.
