Scraps of Love was founded by Marvin and Karen Martinson in 2022 while Marvin was undergoing cancer treatments. Looking for a way to bless others with their interests and gifts, Karen began making quilts to donate to the infusion center. In learning to make crumb quilts, Marvin wanted to make the quilts large, warm, and fun. These quilts are filled with hidden treasures to seek and find, providing hours of enjoyment. Marvin encouraged Karen to continue the ministry even after his own passing. She does this in his honor and at God's request.
We provide crumb quilts, in the original style Marvin and Karen designed, for those in the midst of serious health battles. These quilts are distributed treatment centers for patients and their families to keep long after treatments are completed.
Quilters contribute squares, cut strips, find images, sew bindings, and quilt with the longarm. Others donate materials or finances. Karen also teaches crumb quilting and gives talks to quilters groups and retreats.
