Honors in Action

Scholarship

Honors in Action (HIA) is a PTK program "designed to engage students in informed action meant to foster student success and help the organization fulfill its mission of providing college students opportunities to grow as scholars and leaders."

Chapters engage in an academic research process by "developing a research question, compiling the research, and presenting it to a wider audience via the Hallmark Award entry process."

College Projects

Leadership

The goal of College Projects is to help develop a positive relationship between our chapter and the Seattle Central College administration by devising and assisting in any project that supports Seattle Central College.

While considering the needs of the college, the subcommittee applies the concepts, ideas, and lessons learned from the chosen HIA research topic and develops a College Project.

At the annual Hallmark Awards competition, Phi Theta Kappa chooses as many as 50 exceptional Projects from over 400 chapter entrants.

Communications

Fellowship

Through the Communications subcommittee, Alpha Chi Zeta members are provided an opportunity to develop their communication skills for the purposes of enhancing their the academic goals.

In addition, the subcommittee is the chapter's primary connection to the college's student body through social media, poster creation, and similar activities.

Outreach & Fundraising

Service

Two-year colleges are sometimes termed "community colleges." The goal of the Outreach & Fundraising subcommittee is to reach out into, and support, the student body as well as the community at large outside of the college.

In addition, the subcommittee is responsible for fundraising activities that support the chapter's various goals and projects.
