Dr. Scott Meredith has recently relocated to the Kitsap Peninsula after teaching trumpet at the university level for over 18 years in Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas. As Associate Professor of Trumpet at the University of Wyoming, he taught trumpet lessons and the trumpet ensemble as well as academic courses that included Jazz Techniques, Jazz History, Romantic History, Intro to Music, and Orchestral Excerpts. He also founded the Snowy Range Brass Quintet, which toured the Rocky Mountain region giving concerts as well as in-school educational programs. Prior to his appointment at the University of Wyoming, Dr. Meredith taught at the University of Northern Colorado and the University of North Texas.

Dr. Meredith's students have routinely competed successfully in state, regional, and national festivals and competitions, including the National Trumpet Competition, the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute, and numerous International Trumpet Guild conferences. Former members of his studio have gone on to earn Masters and Doctoral degrees from major music schools including the University of North Texas and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and many have professional careers as performers, public school teachers, and college music professors.

Dr. Meredith has performed nationally with the Boulder Philharmonic, Owensboro Symphony (KY), the Irving, Plano, and San Angelo Symphonies (TX), Dallas Wind Symphony, North Carolina Pops, Orchestra of New Spain (TX), Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, and at the Colorado Music Festival. Currently, he is principal trumpet with the Wyoming Symphony, Seattle Collaborative Orchestra and the Port Angeles Symphony as well as engagements with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Auburn Symphony, Saratoga Orchestra, North Corner Chamber Orchestra, Yakima Symphony, Oregon East Symphony and Seattle Metropolitan Orchestra.

Dr. Meredith earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in trumpet performance from the University of North Texas where he studied with Keith Johnson, Leonard Candelaria, and John Holt and baroque trumpet with John Thiessen. He earned his Masters Degree in trumpet performance from the University of North Texas and his Bachelor of Music Performance and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from the University of Northern Colorado where he studied with William Pfund.

Dr. Meredith can be heard on the CD "Chamber Music of Jennifer Higdon" featuring the premiere recording of her "Trumpet Songs" ("Trumpets can sing, too, and trumpeter Scott Meredith does just that, displaying a gorgeous tone and sense of phrasing." - Fanfare Magazine). He can also be heard on the "Teaching Music through Performance in Band" series as well as numerous recordings with the University of North Texas Wind Symphony under the direction of Eugene Corporon as part of the "Klavier Wind Project," including: Convergence, UFO: Music of Michael Daugherty, Time Pieces, Recollections, Symphonic Excursions, Escapades, Carmina Burana, Hemispheres, Allegories, and Retrospectives.
